As I get closer to the finish I have several strange parts.
PART 1
PART 2

#1 is an inner door bottom weatherstrip retainer.
#2 is a cab to running board seal retainer.

Curt, the pic below is what I used for the door seal retainer.

I suspected the other was the running board seal as the holes matched up. I can't see, however, how it attaches.
INNER DOOR SEAL & RETAINER

If you feel under the cab right above the running board on the inside ledge there is a splash rubber that keeps water and dirt from going on your running board.Part #2 sheet metal screws to the top of that lip and holds the rubber splash,it screws in from the top down and is a pain to screw in. I did mine before I put the cab on the frame.


Part #1 screws to the bottom of the door and holds the weather stripping thats around the door in place.

I don't have my truck here it's put away for the winter,if I did I could post some pics.

Keep in mine I had to replace a LOT of metal in this area so I drilled holes and used either a 3/16 bolt or 1/4".
Its just another shot as info of the running board splash piece.
...and its on my panel and not a pickup.

I see that it screws from the bottom up ,I wish my truck were here since memory is NOT what it was.

This is how the strip goes on the door bottom.

My understanding is that the inside of the door bottom should look like this.

Thanks guys, you've pull a thorn out of my paw. Alvin, I believe I'll do like you and use bolts. My philosophy has always been that if a nail would do, use a screw, and if a screw would do, use a bolt; it's always better to "overdo it than to do it over".

This is the way the original bottom door seals were on the door before the restoration, and I believe they were original, but in almost 60 years who knows???

Curt B is right thats the way the door bottom should look like it does on my 52 anyway.

Where's the rubber seal?

I went to my storage unit and looked at my 2 spare doors and they have the rubber installed the way I do. Could there be a difference in the seals from '52 to '53?

I suppose that's possible. Without a assembly manual from those years it's hard to tell. I will say the GM parts book from 40 something to 54 shows the door like Pete52's door. However the book is a bit short on pictures and some show different year models only.
