I have a lead on a 270 now I have located a 1958- 3 speed Overdrive transmission Casting#3743388 - 4 bolt not 7 frown

Will the tranny replace my stock tranny with 228?

A 1949 transmission will be closed torque tube type. A 1958 transmission will be open driveshaft type. If your 1949 is a 1/2 ton with closed driveline, you will need to replace the rear axle. If your truck is a 3/4 ton you will need a new driveshaft made.

Thank you bigbadswingdaddy!!

Somehow my luck is running hot these past 2 wks. Got a lead on another GMC so gonna look at it this week. Might keep this 49 bone stock and mod the other one. He is only asking $250 for entire truck.
