| | | | Joined: Dec 2004 Posts: 1,897 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Dec 2004 Posts: 1,897 | A 1949 transmission will be closed torque tube type. A 1958 transmission will be open driveshaft type. If your 1949 is a 1/2 ton with closed driveline, you will need to replace the rear axle. If your truck is a 3/4 ton you will need a new driveshaft made.
