Wondered if the black color should be painted or powdercoated..after media blasting. Artillery wheels will be powdercoated in black some time down the road. | | | | | Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 14,522 Moderator: Welcome Centre, Southern Bolters, Legion Hall | | Moderator: Welcome Centre, Southern Bolters, Legion Hall Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 14,522 | powder coat it...... paint chips and fades to easy and its to easy for rust to get started under small blemishes. I think a tougher coating will last.... and if desired later it can be scuffed and painted over.
EDIT: this is just my "opinion"!!

So I primed with self etching primer and will be painting to match what will be pained on the truck. One thing with powder coating (which is good) is that powder coating will not give the same finish. If you are worried about chipping and cracking due to flexing there is an additive you can add to your final paint (usually used on plastic bumper paint) to keep this from happening. Check with your local auto paint store. When I was painting bikes (especially the imports with lots of plastic we used it quite a bit). Just ask for flex additive. | | |
