The Stovebolt Site Forums The Parking Lot Big Bolts One owner 1940 WB 1-1/2 Ton

I finally got our family's 1940 Chevy WB-Series 1-1/2 Ton Truck moved up to my place and back on the road. It has been in storage for the last 25 years or so. The truck only has 21,133 original miles on it.

My grandfather bought this truck new in 1940. His fabrication shop built and installed the oilfield bed and Tulsa winch. The bed is designed where it can also be used as a dump bed by routing the winch over the A-frame behind the cab and down to the bed. The rear is hinged and the bed is built so wood front & sides can be added.

The truck hauled a 40' long suspension pier my grandfather built at his shop in Russell, KS to his property in Michigan. The truck spent the next 35 years or so on the property in Michigan and was used for odd jobs around the place. I learned to drive by myself on this truck when I was eight years old.

When my parents sold the property we moved the truck to Tulsa, where it sat in storage. I finally moved the truck to my place in Missouri, where we went through the fuel & brake systems, replaced the tires and cleaned it up. It fired up on the first try and runs like a top.

The truck is pretty much original. It had a repaint in the early 1950's, had the seat recovered, etc.

The pictures show the truck through the years. Some have my dad as a young boy and some have him shown in the truck today. It is a piece of our family's history and one of my most cherished possessions.

That is a nice truck, and the family history is great. I am going through a truck that my wife's great grandfather bought new in 1937. Its similiar to your truck in style but no where near as nice in condition.

Fantastic, and I love the tractor to.

That is a nice looking truck. I really like the ingenuity on the dump/flatbed. That is a really good solution to get a dumping bed.
