The internal venturi size on the 261 carb is larger than on the 235.
I do not have measurement/tag number.
Jon. Good carburetion is fuelish hot airThe most expensive carburetor is the wrong one you attempt to modify. Of course there is always exceptions to the rule. I read somewhere that there was over 140 different models of the rochester 1bbl. | | | | | Joined: Apr 2009 Posts: 121 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Apr 2009 Posts: 121 | dam thats a lot of different models . i really want to find two 261 carbs | | | | | Joined: Sep 2006 Posts: 2,393 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Sep 2006 Posts: 2,393 | Try plugging your engine year and size into the NAPA site and see what they show as available. Their's will be pricey, but it will give you an idea what to look for elsewhere.

NOS is about the only possibility and my experience matches Carbking and Whitedog in that they can be identified by measuring the throttle bore.

From what I've been told (by the guys here and elsewhere) dual 216/early235 carbs are easier to tune and calibrate. If you are wanting a single carb application, finding a carb from a 292 may be alot easier than the 261. | | | | | Joined: Apr 2009 Posts: 121 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Apr 2009 Posts: 121 | well i want two 261 carbs because i have two 261 engines but i just got a tickstun dual intake i think im going to use it on my 54 . | | | | | Joined: Mar 2008 Posts: 1,775 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2008 Posts: 1,775 | Good luck, sounds like a cool project.
