For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Apr 2004 Posts: 438 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Apr 2004 Posts: 438 | Hi, I spotted these trucks in a junkyard last weekend. Got the owner's permission to photograph. Thought you all might enjoy looking at 'em, I know I did. The old Texaco truck is available, I think. The others have been in the family, and will remain so, I was told. Oh, and don't mind the little car, I just had to snap a few of it, too. Oh, the early '60s GMC is not available, unfortunately for me. Took a few pics of cars in town, too. It was a very nice stop on my trip. Okay, here's the link.

HOw about getting it and hold onto it and bring it to Kansas next year. | | | | | Joined: Apr 2004 Posts: 438 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Apr 2004 Posts: 438 | You're welcome, guys. They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. This is priceless! that L.C.F. is sweet, too! Love those task-force tri-5's,even if it sounds redundant! To own one is to love them all! Am i mistaken, or did that '56 tandem have two transmissions? 4x3? 5x4? I wonder what trannies were used back then? Did it have Twin two-speed rear-ends? What a treasure find! Thanks for the pics! The junkyards here have very little in the way of old stuff, just anonymous cr*ppy wee Japanese and European rot boxes..... Thanks for sharing though.... 1950 Chevy Advance Design 3100 in ScotlandIn the Stovebolt GalleryMore pix on Flickr. It's a Heavy Duty 10400 series with an 6 spd. automatic trans, aux. tranny, & tandem axle. If it still has the original engine, it will have the big 322ci. Buick V8 engine used in the '56, & '57 Heavies. Probably air over hydraulic brakes(note the air horn on top)."RARE" truck. There's a member on this website( BHMOTOMACH ), who's father has one like it restored. My siblings think I'm nuts for taking pics of old "junk" trucks. It sure is nice to belong to a forum of other truck enthusiasts.
Jock, I'm trying real hard to hear that Scottish accent come through while reading your description of what's in the junkyards in Scotland. ... nice! Most of the junkyards here have that newer cr*p as well. Seeing the old big trucks is what made me take the detour off the interstate, track down the owner, spend the time to do the proper amount of b.s.ing/"chewing the fat" (always enjoyable), and get permission to take pictures and post on-line. It was a GOOD day!! :-) | | | | | Joined: Mar 2008 Posts: 3,750 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2008 Posts: 3,750 | Jock, I'm trying real hard to hear that Scottish accent come through while reading your description of what's in the junkyards in Scotland. ... nice!
