Been makin' a bracket to mount a fire extinguisher to the seat riser in my 38. Just wonderin' how many of you have one in your truck?

I have one in mine, too. It's mounted to the right side kick panel, which is were many car show organizers require them in order to show a vehicle.

I have one in the 7-up cooler I use for tools and spares in the burb.

Mine are under the seat (driver’s side) in every vehicle. I just used a couple polishing rags to hold them there. My insurance company requires them – but I would have them regardless.

I have one in every car I drive. I seen to many cars catch fire at the dragstrip that didn't have one close by. My '37 is mounted to drivers kick panel, it easy grab on the way out the door!

My uncles Stanley Steamer has two, and one was right at your feet! Setting behind a 500psi boiler with out one was crazy.

Can you still get Halon extinguishers in the USA and Canada? They've been outlawed here in the UK.

I have a small one that fits in my glove box.

I have one mounted on the firewall under the glove box.
Those little extinguishers don't last very long. If you've never had any fire training you might want to practice with one out in the backyard someday.
On some kind of schedule check the pressure gauge to make sure it hasn't leaked down and then turn it upside down and back up to help keep the powder loosened up. Also look at the nozzle opening. Several insects/bees have a habit of plugging up the nozzle.

Halon is a halogenated alkane. There are various ones used for extinguishers depending on the application. Halons are similar to Freons. It's a "clean" fire extinguisher, leaves no mess or residue since the Halon is a gas at normal temperatures and pressures. The extinguishers are usually pretty quick and effective.
