1st time I drove my 64 C10 at night I found the old style bulbs weren't all that bright.

Besides the Halogen direct replacement bulbs are there any other options out there for good looking and bright headlights?

Wonder if any enterprising company has developed any hi tech replacement lights for the 60's trucks yet?

The first headlight upgrade should be the installation of relays, regardless if you change to hi-tech bulbs or keep the originals. They make a huge improvement in light output. Here's a link explaining how I did mine:

I run halogen hi-beam bulbs but regular sealed beams on the low circuit. Halogen sealed beams burn out faster than any other bulb on the market, and I run with my lights on all the time. The halogen high beams don't get used near as often so they last a reasonable amount of time.

Thank you for the schematic.

I think I will be swapping out the old sealed beams to the Projection Lamps out of a Jeep.

Since I need to rewire for relays I might as well get some lamps that you can see with.

Check the clearance behind the bulbs. I went to add an aftermarket set and there was not room. I'd have had to cut holes through the support.

I have a 66 gmc and found halogen bulbs at O'Reileys for $7.00 each, wired them up with relays and now I can actually see at night.......Kieth

ps also bought new sockets with pigtails and wired them in......no muss no fuss just a lot of light.

I bought a pair of the "supposibly" high powered tri-bars at a show for 42.00 They do work quite well.
