It has a spring and a slotted connector on the end of it. Where and how does this attach to the carburetor? It was not hooked up when I bought it from the previous owner, however I would like to get it connected properly. Thanks for your input.

Been 20 years since I have looked at one. But I don;t remember any other cable other than the speedometer cable. Guess I better go look at one.

I have never seen a TH400 with a cable. The TH 350 has the modulator on the rear of the transmission, and does use a cable. Bob

According to the previous owner, it is a Turbo 400, however per this information it is a Turbo 350. In any event, I would like to properly hook up the cable coming out of the passenger side of the tail shaft. Also, I would like to know what it is. The truck drives and shifts very well without it, however I want to do it correctly.
The carburetor is a 600 cfm Edelbrock with an electric choke. I do not have the cable mounting bracket nor do I know what it looks like.
I will double check the pan shape and I appreciate the cheat sheet on tranny pans. It is a good quick reference piece to identify tranny types.

They have universal brackets for mounting it. Summit or Jegs lists them in their catalogs or one of the local speed shops probably does too. They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. Same thing. 1972 Chevy c10 Cheyenne SuperIn the Gallery Forum

The kickdown cable attaches to the transmission housing above the oil pan, close to the dipstick tube. Its only function is to allow a 3-2 downshift when passing. The modulator controls shift points and part-throttle downshifts by responding to intake manifold vacuum. Jerry
