My barn doors will open while I'm driving
Cam someone tell me is the handle on the inside spring loaded?..thus keeping the upper and lower hooks in place..There is no spring on the inside handle on mine leaving it to jiggle open..

I went and looked again at my doors and saw there was only 1 spring, runnunig up and down on the back side of the handle. Don't know what I was thinking before. There are also set screws for the hooked rods. It looks to me that if the rods are not adjusted to the proper angle to catch and then clear at the top and bottom, the door will be loose. The set screws are important to keep the rods in place. I am missing one and the door doesnen't pull tight as it should.

at a hardware store? there are no panel-specific parts sold at any of the repro vendors

I'm probably all wet here but just trying to help. I don't know if your 46 is anywhere like my 52 panel but here is a couple shots that may help.
This shot is the middle handle and it does have a spring on it.

This is a shot of one of the left door latches that go at top and bottom. It does have spring that hooks to the little catch but unfortunately the pic don't show it...if you look real close you may see it betweent the two tall pieces of metal..

The new springs I used on the LEFT door did come from Ace Hardware.

I might add that when I took my panel for the first ride up the street the rear doors came open. My latches with springs were fine. The problem was I needed to adjust the "catches" that fasten to the body at the top and bottom AND I added a small gasket (homemade) between them and the body which help accomodate for the wear on the catches and the little latches them selves. All is fine now.
Yours may be totally different from yours but if it helps in some little way I've done my job

Those are great pictures. The latches on the 46 though hook horizontally where yours appear to hook vertically.?? This thread motivated me to take my door handle latch apart, and it is exactly like your picture. This could mean the original was replaced by a later model. I did learn wher the spring goes and what it looks like.

Alvin do you have a picture of the door catch on the opposite door?

Mike, my oposite door only catches right in the middle. The door latch "tongue" catches on the striker plate in the center of the left door.
I'm gonna take a look at my photobucket and see what I can find and list it below. Maybe, just maybe it'll help.

OK, I have sweat blood to do this, but I think I figured out how to get some pictures of my rear doors on webshots. They show the difference between the Art Deco Panel Door system aqnd the Advance Design.

I took my latch apart today. I need to have some weld put on a couple pieces. Then I can grind and file the bolt and an arm so it all works again. At least that is the plan. I also have to make a setscrew for one of the locking rods.

The bigger issues are the body, rotted out door hinge fixtures and the multi board floor. Not to mention the rear doors.
