Are there any 1960's or later 3speeds (3-on-the-tree) that have the same side shift pattern as an early 50's car 3-on-the-tree? Looking to get to an open driveline using a truck BH in a car w/235 & Nova rearend.

Yup, that was the Q.
So, I understand that all 3-on-the-tree transmissions from early 50's throuth late 60's have the same shift pattern. So, I could take a 60's 3spd, bolt it to a truck BH, then bolt that to a car 235 and use the cars' linkages. This could give me a quick way to connect to an open driveline if true.
Am I correct?

| | | | | Joined: Jul 2001 Posts: 3,887 Cruising in the Passing Lane | | Cruising in the Passing Lane Joined: Jul 2001 Posts: 3,887 | the trans will fit but you'd have to modify the linkage between the shift box on the lower column and the trans [from the box up you need your 53 original stuff] - and you likely have to adapt driveshaft length .... if you can find a 68 or later 3 speed, they have syncro 1st
