Odered and installed a new speedometer cable today. I have a stock speedometer on the dash and a T5 transmission. The speedometer worked for about a mile then stopped working. Probably remove the cable tomorrow. Any ideas.

For me, it was a process of elimination. It could be the drive gear in the transmission, the driven gear, the cable or the speedometer unit. The easiest to check is the cable, if it turns at both ends, go to the next component, til you find the problem.

The speedometer works. Finished installing rebuilt gauges. Look great and they all work. The speedometer seems to read slower than the actual speed. When travelling at 45 according to the speedometer, actual speed as shown on my Garmen GPS read 55. I'm using a stock speedometer and cable hooked up to a T5 transmission. Any ideas for calibrating? Guess I'll need to watch my speed. Do not want a ticket. Easy to drive fast with the rebuilt 261 and T5.
