I finally got the correct door latches from American Classic. I have the door relay strut thingie removed, and all of the screws holding the latch itself, but it's now held in place with the exterior door handle. I've removed the screw in the plate that mounts to the door itself, but..... I *DON'T* want to force anything and thought I'd check here instead of going caveman... TIA for any suggestions or ideas on what's hanging things up...

The square shaft on the handle can turn in such a way that it prevents the handle from coming out. I can't remember the details but I saw the same thing. I think I had to move the lock a little with the inside remote in order to take the pressure off the shaft. | | | | | Joined: Jan 2010 Posts: 4,263 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jan 2010 Posts: 4,263 | The door glass channel guide may have to be removed also ...pic... Above pic is of a 50, not sure if your year is the same, but you can use a mirror through the lower access panel to inspect. | | | | | Joined: Sep 2006 Posts: 3,596 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Sep 2006 Posts: 3,596 | DADS50 is correct you usually have to remove the guide to get them out, almost for sure to get them back in since it would have to slide up under it. The square shaft over time basically molds itself into the door latch and can sometimes need a bit of persistence to get it to come out. | | |
