Do any of you use a bleeder kit when bleeding brakes? The kind with a hose and container, or do you not worry about it and just deal with the mess?

I have a home-made bottle for Type 5 and a cheap kit for standard brake fluid (see below). I use the $5.99 bleeder kit (often on sale for about $3) and it keeps the fluid off the ground and off parts. A small piece of tubing from any hardware store is needed to match the bleeding valve/nipple. This Motive Pressure Bleeder 0102 makes it an easier 1-person job. I had to buy this to properly bleed a hydrovac but I often use it (with one of the bottles) on my other trucks. | | | | | Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 14,522 Moderator: Welcome Centre, Southern Bolters, Legion Hall | | Moderator: Welcome Centre, Southern Bolters, Legion Hall Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 14,522 | I do it one of two ways. Use a piece of vacummn hose to a bottle (with a little fluid in the bottle and the end of the hose down in it.... and I've found that I like the speed bleeders. They're a little price at 10 bucks a pair but they do work.
A couple of the kits I've tried only made me angry! | | | | | Joined: Nov 2004 Posts: 2,399 Former Workshop Owner | | Former Workshop Owner Joined: Nov 2004 Posts: 2,399 | Thanks for all of the input. It seems that the local parts stores do not stock any bleeder kits that are worth buying. I will just rig up a small clear hose (as I have in the past) and get by.
Thanks again.

But the last time I used it, I think I was sucking air in at the bleeder screws, and ended up getting the wife to do the old push-and-hold. Boy, I can say a one-man system is better.....if it will work!
