Sounds like it's about the same revs as the wheels. Under power I don't hear it but coasting I do. Don't see any grease leaking (from being hot) from wheel bearings. Going to get car up to redo brake system next week. Yeah, it failed again also. So what do I do to find noise? Thanks.

There should be no side play in the carrier or the pinion brgs. They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. With it sitting still see how much "play" you have back and forth in the driveshaft. | | | | | Joined: Oct 2008 Posts: 67 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Oct 2008 Posts: 67 | noise under coast condition is usually pinion bearings, although tooth pattern could also be a culprit. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2008 Posts: 3,750 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2008 Posts: 3,750 | I might be barking up the wrong tree here but if your Camaro axle has a posi diff,I assume you've put additive in? My friends axle in his '52 was chattering badly as he 'forgot',it quietened down considerably after he added the correct gear oil additive.
