For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Jun 2011 Posts: 150 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jun 2011 Posts: 150 | Hi, I'm new to the forum and am finally getting around to working on my 1949 5 window. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v518/Blacktailer/IMG_4677.jpgMy Grandfather bought this truck new in 49 and my uncle drove it to high school. I have had it for about 25 years and it has been sitting for the past 15. About 20 years ago the rear end went out and I installed the diff out of a 72 Coupe de Ville. At the same time I upgraded the front brakes to make the wheel patterns match up. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v518/Blacktailer/IMG_4698.jpgI bought a 74 Camaro out of a tow yard 15 years ago and kept everything but the body to install on this truck. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v518/Blacktailer/IMG_4681.jpgThe plan is to make this into a decent driver and a sleeper from the outside. This is my second 49, the first had a 327 shoe horned in but was stock other than that. Russ Moore Paso Robles, Ca [email protected]

You'll feel right at home here and there is also may bolters out your way. Congrats on keeping the truck in the family. Man, I bet it could tell some tales!!
It looks like someone added 51 model doors or is the wingvents homemade? Hard to tell from the pic. Anyway, we're here to help you along the journey so keep us posted. That will make one nice pickup. | | | | | Joined: Jun 2011 Posts: 150 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jun 2011 Posts: 150 | The wing vents were added by my uncle along with the spotlights. Anyone who remembers spotlights chasing each other around the drive-in screen before the movie started is as old as this truck! | | | | | Joined: Dec 2008 Posts: 337 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Dec 2008 Posts: 337 | Anyone who remembers spotlights chasing each other around the drive-in screen before the movie started is as old as this truck! That would be me! The cartoon character that bounced all over the screen was called “Spotty”. I looked forward to the day I'd be old enough to be in the driver seat and play Spotty, but of course by that time the phase was dead and gone. Love to see trucks with a family history. Your truck looks remarkable, and I dig the twin Unity spotlights. We live in So Cal but we have a project house in Nipomo. I bought my truck to work on it and it makes the drive up there, about 200+ miles. Spent alot of time in Paso when I was active duty at Camp Roberts. | | |
