Truck will driven around town and on the highway,150 miles round trip to work. No plans to paint, gonna leave it looking like I found it,(Barn for 40 years) The local pull and pay just got in a 90 something z28,planing on grabing the rear...its complete and clean. I allready have a 200r trans...but the trans and converter, flex plate are still on the Z. Should I pull them also along with the driveshaft? What about the powerbrake booster, and master cylinder, can this be mounted in the frame? Is there anything else I should grab? I can Fab up anything, thats no problem. The last transplant I did was in 1978,I need to be a little more Picky with this one. Any Thoughts??? Thanks Wick

Also, check the width of the axle before you buy it, a better swap would be from a '73-'79 Camero/Firebird as they are the right width and still standard bolt, not metric. What about front axle, keeping it stock or adding disk brakes, or M-II? All the brake adapter kits use the older 73-79 calipers and rotors, at least mine does, and a Ford bearing to adapt them to the straight axle spindle.
My '37 does just fine with manual disk/drum brakes. I have heard power brakes can be touchy, check in the other forums, there is a thread going about adding power boosters. Joe

I used my original springs, with 3 inch lowering block. I did have to "offset" the lowering block hole about 2 inchs,(I'd have to measure to be sure) then the malibu rear end fit right on top of it. Right width etc. Its ran good for the past 6 or7 years ....until last weekend. I twisted it up but think the shift kit I'm running in my 700R4 had weakened it. I plated my original chassis on the front and put a fabricated crossmember under it with fabricated spring towers. I got all the stuff off a 78 STang II and rebuilt or used it for a core, and it has done well. I put the mastercyl and booster under the driver floor board. Used original stang calipers(new rebuilt) and got after market rotors with chev 5 lug pattern....hope all this helps in some way. Good luck on your project. There are a lot of "pros" here to help you with just about anything.
Note: I offset the rear end lowering blocks to center the rear wheels in the fender.
