Rebuilt points distributor/new wires/plugs...etc
Checked Timing gears/chain/tight no slop
Checked distributor/no broken springs
Timing bounces around even when unplugged hose from advance.
Really bad loss of power when driving. Tried two new carbs/edelbrock

Any suggestions?

Ya think?? It's a rebuilt dist that seems tight. Any other possibilities? My painter left the key on for a few days and points look like they have taken some gas...got a new set just installed. I'll check the bushings. thanks, steve

No ballast resistor, that could do it. Check voltage to coil.

I had the jumping when I was missing a tooth on the distributor drive (it was a Dodge slant 6).

If your points are eroding from the electrical discharge, replace your condenser. Its job is to minimize the arcing the eats the points up.

Just had a similar situation at the track last week. Turns out the mag had a bad rotor. Siliconed the rotor on for the rest of the night and it came apart in the main. Driver finished in fifth with an engine that would jump from +10 to +32...... good driver... bad rotor. [censored] happens

Is the vibration damper slipping?
