Problem is the title is from MI and I live in FL so the vin number has to be verified against the title. I have looked all over the truck for a vin number, the engine number and the number on the plate inside the drivers door do not match the title. Where else could the vin number be located.

On a 53 you have the door tag and the engine number that is it. This topic is discussed a lot here do a search and you will see. You need to research the Florida DMV rules for what has to be done. The non-match on the title sounds like it could be a major problem, maybe one of the Florida Bolters will chime in. | | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,269 Bubba - Curmudgeon | | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,269 | Charlie (Charley),
Brad has nicely explained this situation. If you post the various codes that you have, people will be able to help you figure out a variety of things related to title, registration, engine serial number vehicle serial number (vehicle ID), etc.
- the engine serial number is pressed into the block just to the rear of where the distributor goes into the block
- the vehicle (cab) serial number is on a metal plate that is screwed or riveted to the cab between the driver's side door hinges
Either of the above codes might have been used on the title and/or registration.

Oregon DMV spent a lot of time helping me out and eventually told me that in 1950 the state assigned the number on the title and that had nothing to do with any ID/VIN numbers from the truck .... so you may be on a wild goose chase.
My state (CT) didn't car about a title, I just had to go through a VIN verification process where the technician compared the VIN plate on the door jamb to the bill or sale. Took all of 2 minutes, brought the form to DMV, plates issued. Newbie 1950 Chevy 3100 | | |
