I hate it when this happens.

Actually this is the first time ever in one of my vehicles.

A mouse found its way into my truck , got in the glovebox, ate some stuff , made the usual mess and [censored] and poo in there.

I am so angry ,, I had a mint glove box, but the card it is made of has the mouse pee smell now and I don't know how to get the smell out.

one option is to buy a new glove box card,

All other thoughts and suggestions gratefully received.
ps, I'm chemically sensitive so nothing too nasty thanks.

here's what i did with mine to get rid of the smell. i removed it, soaked it in gas and burned it. smell all gone. bought new one and found where the little buggers were finding they're way in and sealed it up. if you think the glovebox ordeal is bad wait until they start attacking the underside of your seat that is if they already have'nt. take a six pack of little trees and open them all up. you wont smell nothin for a while.

Remove the glove box cardboard and donate it to the trash can. I have used ZEROODER to get rid of cat pee, now that's bad stuff! It works great! Spray in the area of the glove box to remove urine smell that leaked out from the box.

I've used Febreeze on furniture and it worked pretty good. Soaked the upholtery pretty good a couple of times.

A new glove box liner would be my recommendation.

I have a couple of dogs, so on occasions I need to get rid of the smell. Here's what I use;

A few years ago the glove box liner only cost about 20 bucks, that is cheaper than the six little trees and hardly more than whatever chemical suits your fancy.

Ditto on replacing the glove box, but the worst is when the squirrels get into the engine compartment to nest. Any of our vehicles that sit for more than a day during mating season become targets. I have to spray them all (the vehicles – not the squirrels) with pepper spray once or twice to keep the varmints away.

Whatever you do, Make sure you get it out of any vents (heater, defroster, side vents, etc.) so you don't open the vents and turn on the heater with it in there. That stuff can be nasty and create respiratory illness and even death. Get it wet with water and bleach mix before you disturb it.

i doubt you will get the odor out of cardboard. I use white vinegar (neutralizes urine odor and makes everything smell like vinegar) then rinse with water, then sprinkle on baking powder to remove vinegar smell. Then a few days later, final rinse with water. this works well on metal surfaces. Pay attention to hantavirus (wet the mouse wastes and wipe up, don't make dust by sweeping or vacuming).
