I have been going over all the options for motors and then i stummbled across a 1978 Buick 3.8L turbo v6 with tranny, wiring and rear end. the first thought in my head was, can it be done?...has it been done?

I used to have a CJ-5 with a Buick 225 (same dimensions) shoehorned into it, it actually had enough room under the hood to work. With a 4bbl Qjet on an Offy manifold it was scary fast- the Jeep only weighed about 1800 pounds.
I don't know how you will fit the turbo in there but if you use a passenger side exhaust manifold on the driver's side for a front dump exhaust you don't have to move the steering box.

This truck was built on the 2wd S10 chassis, though never saw production. Shouldn't be any issues with fitment as long as you have the correct mounts and tranny.

I don't know that its been done but why not do it?

#73702 02/23/2007 3:58 AM | Joined: May 2006 Posts: 8,351 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: May 2006 Posts: 8,351 | One more thing about the S10-the chassis from the front cab mount forward is essentially the same as the late '70s/early '80s downsize GM intermediates (Malibu/Cutlass/Grand Prix/Gran Sport). So The motor mounts for the Buick engine should be able to be used with the S10 chassis. Also, all of the front end components will swap, like ball joints, tie rods, shocks, etc. You can also use the car shocks on the rear, especially if it's been lowered.

I don't know that its been done but why not do it? it is coming from a 78 regal(g-body), the car is at my diposal. I figured the engine mounts would work also and other things such as tilt steering, wiring harness, maybe power window motors would work also. Im not sure about the turbo hood scoop though ..lol
