Hello, does anyone know how I can start looking for an original engine for my 1959 Apache? I would like to find a Thriftmaster. I am new at this and I don't really know where to start looking. Thanks for the help

Lots of those motors are available. From free for picking up to $500. Watch Ebay. Look in Hemmings. Place a wanted here at the swap meet and at Inliners.org. Be patient.

Set up an e-bay account and put out a watch for a Chev 235. I see them quite often. There are 2 for sale right now, one in Mojave, CA and one in Jackson, MI.

Hello eighty eight. Grant from Wisconsin again. I will have a complete engine assy, in beautiful running order, available in late spring. It was rebiult summer of '05, but I don't have receipts to prove. It is in a truck I own and it runs and drives very well. The new gaskets are very visible, and I put 3000+ miles on it summer of '06 without missing a beat or using oil.Let me know. Grant.

A 235 or a 261 would be the ones you want. The 261 is beefier. Here are a few yards to contact. All American Classics Inc., 1930-1980 models out of Vancouver Washington. Their # is 800-955-4999. From Calif there is Fins and Flames, 1940-1960. Their # is 909-829-2041. Chevy Truck Salvage, 1948 and up 714-554-1850. Turners' Auto Wrecking, 1928 and up, 559-237-0918. These and MUCH MORE are in the chevy/gmc truck parts locating guide. No other book like it that I have seen. Go to www.gardenofspeedin.com and send for one of these valuable books. It tells where you can find just about anything for restoring classics from interior to reproduction manufacturers to you name it. Worth every penny to get one. H.
