The long lever will not release the hood and the other lever does nothing when I pull it. | | | | Joined: Jan 2008 Posts: 4,903 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2008 Posts: 4,903 | Pull on the long lever as hard as you can. While doing this, bang on the hood about at the hood ornament with your fist or a rubber mallet. | | | | Joined: Feb 2006 Posts: 649 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Feb 2006 Posts: 649 | Have a "helper" push down on the hood while pulling the lever. Sometimes you just have to lift up hard on the hood. You should be able to see if the plunger/bolt is hanging up on the edge of the latch/plate. Push, pull wiggle and giggle it will come open! | | | | Joined: Oct 2004 Posts: 1,781 Master Gabster | Master Gabster Joined: Oct 2004 Posts: 1,781 | Push down hard and at the same time pull the lever as hard as you can, wiggle it if necessary. The mechanism is a very simple release, you push the lever to the side and the cone shaped plunger is released. The slide latch goes around the plunger groove. Make sure you make the correct adjustments and grease the mechanism well before closing the hood again. | | | | Joined: Jul 2005 Posts: 640 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Jul 2005 Posts: 640 | Cursing and throwing things always helps.

This means if all else fails you can pull the grill and go up from the bottom with a bar or screwdriver to get it released.

As George said, push down on the hood and pull hard. | | | | Joined: Oct 2004 Posts: 348 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Oct 2004 Posts: 348 | slap it open handed on the right or left side to the middle | | | | Joined: Jul 2005 Posts: 640 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Jul 2005 Posts: 640 | Tell a kid not to open it. | | | | Joined: Apr 2010 Posts: 2 New Guy | New Guy Joined: Apr 2010 Posts: 2 | Got it and thanks for the ideas. Did take another person. Never had this much trouble in the past. Thanks again. | | |
