Does anyone have an illustration for the drum/band style parking brake we have on our 1957 truck? I need to see how the springs and washers stack up on the J bolt. I have the factory service manual but it does not show a break down of the parts in the parking brake, just the whole assembly. I cannot tell from that picture if I am missing parts or how they even line up. Even a picture of someones truck with the same set up would help. We have the Muncie SM420 trans.

assembly manual doesn't show that for a 3600, 3800 should do

Bill, we don't like dead links in General Truck Talk. Please reconsider.

Maybe he fixed it? It worked for me... and led me to another great resource.

Thanks Bill!

The links right above this post would be great if that was the brake I had. I have the drum style with the band that wraps around. Bill's link worked and that is the set-up we have. Trying to figure out what exactly is at the bottom of the J bolt as the pics don't show it very clearly.

appears to me that the bottom is a shorter spring and a wide nut, castle nut, or double nut
