Should I install the door weatherstripping before hanging the door. The packages are marked, "GM Restoration products" and appear to be good quality. I have the weatherstrip adhesive ready to go. If I wait until after hanging, how hard is it to get into the door sill side of the doors?

I'm ready to do the same thing Sunday or Monday. Are you changing the cab frame rubber too? If so, here is a tip I was given. Get a lot of clothes pins and use one about every 2" You clamp the pin on the frame of the door opening, the cheaper the pin the better that was you don't put a lot of pressure on the rubber. Also I think you need to put a bead on the frame and a bead ont eh rubber let set 3-5 minutes and then put the rubber on the part.
As far as the door goes, You need to have some one help you and use 1/2 masking tape, lightly tape the top LET DRY OVER NIGHT, then work your way down a bit over the next few days. | | | | | Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 14,522 Moderator: Welcome Centre, Southern Bolters, Legion Hall | | Moderator: Welcome Centre, Southern Bolters, Legion Hall Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 14,522 | Since you have them off.....definitely put the door weatherstripping on BEFORE hanging the doors. Its my opinon but I assure you many others feel the same way. Its a booger to try do a good job between the door hinges and fenders ect. Although it can be done, you will get a much better job before hanging them and save a lot of 4 letter words. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2006 Posts: 1,703 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Mar 2006 Posts: 1,703 | | | | | | Joined: Mar 2007 Posts: 4,215 Moderator | | Moderator Joined: Mar 2007 Posts: 4,215 | I took mine off and they were quite simple to put back on. I hung the doors back on by myself. I tried clothes pins but gave up on that method, just stayed with it for an hour, then everything was set and didn't shift anymore. | | |
