Does the rear window seal on an AD truck use the lock bead on the inside or out? The design of the bead makes sense to put it on the inside, but why then would the suppliers offer a choice between black or chrome?

The chrome rear-window-seal retainer (lock bead) is for "dress-up" purposes. Chrome was not originally used. The retainers for all three rear windows are installed on the outer side (as described by Vern) in the same way (but only described in the Shop Manual for the "main" rear window).

They are referring to the lock bead for the rear windows and it never came in chrome from the factory. | | |
