I don't understand how that is possible, but I am guessing thats the way it they want it to be. Even google claims to have off shore headquarters. It is very hard to find anything not made off shore. It was nice while it lasted.

All are stamped Made in USA. That was 30 years ago. All Canadian Craftsman tools are made offshore and always have been. I'd hate to break one of my USA made tools and have it replaced be a Chinese built version.

I deal with hundreds of suppliers in my work dealings, everything from raw material to finished casting(all must be made in usa). They all tell me about customers that have gone off shore. But recently quite a few are telling me about some of those customers returning because they can't get the quaility offshore. On a similar note, one person I know has a business that deals in import/export for tools and machine goods and tells me of off shore companies coming back to the US too. One of the biggest reasons one of our American customers continued with us here in the USA was that he could not get any "results" from anyone when he had a problem of ANY kind and when he did get it resloved it would be months.. .and that could put him out of business!!
By the way, he told me/us he could buy the "same" stuff off a boat from China for less money, and it would already be packaged for putting on a shelf..... BUT his company was GROWING here in the USA at 15% a year and he was making plenty of money. This guy was the owner and President of the company. And certainly loyal to his USA customers and employees. Even the older staff says it is not like it was. They are not getting enough stock and replacements now take a long time.

The manager a woman told me they never were covered. I told her that she was FULL OF S xx t! She told me that I was wrong and I asked for the store manager. Make a long story short he said that yes there were some Grand Fathered in. Well he made here take down all my numbers off the tool my name which made her more or less eat Crow! She was to call me when she found out. I never heard a word for three weeks so I went in and the assistant manger came out and gave me a new pro model at no cost and told me that the garrenty was still in effect on this model too just like the last one. So all of you raise a little cane and they will help you out. Tell them you will call corprate and make sure you get there name and employee number too.

Since I got to Ace a good bit I ask if they would make a socket good for me since they now carried Craftsman. The answer, at least here at my store, was that they only made good on the tools they sold at the Ace store. So, that means IF you buy some craftsman at the Ace store you better keep a reciept. I suspect the tools going to Ace may have some special number to tell if it came from Ace or Sears?

I suggested she chronicle the progression of how we've gone from "Cave to Castle" to clarify just how and why we got to this point in our society.
Not to say that I haven’t fallen victim to materialism, I’m just as bad as the next guy, me with five cars or trucks, a barn out back of the 2,000 sq.ft. house, a basement full of my hobbies and just my wife and I living there. But giving all of that up would be like giving up my meat and potatoes. I suppose it has a lot to do with the way I was raised and lived all of my life after all I was born a capitalist.

I have a broken socket and instead of driving all the way to Sears I figured since my local ACE man would make it good. WRONG...they said "did you buy it here". To replace it here you will need your receipt.
