I am doing a 100% Frame-Off Restoration of a 1950 5 Window 1/2 ton PickUp (3100 series). Rolling Chassis is now completed (sandblasted, painted, new: suspension, brakes, master cylinder, wheel cylinders, kingpins, hydraulics, upgraded diff. to 3:55/1, & new exhaust system). Will pick up rebuilt 216 engine next week. Will change out 3 on the column tranny to a 4 speed floor shifter.
QUESTION: what is the procedure to install bellhousing & clutch? Do I have to install the B.H. first & then turn the engine manually to install the flywheel & clutch?

Welcome Charlie.
Your question needs to be in the driveline section. The mods should move it there for you.

Check out the picture posting policy and show us some pictures in the welcome center or DITY gallery

Hi Fried Green T'mater

Having a little trouble navigating the new system. I think my mistake was combining my "new member introduction" and a "question" in the same category.
I hope you are correct that the posting will get placed correctly.
Thanks

There's currently no mod in the Short Bus so it may take a while to get "found". You can click the "Notify" button which will automatically send an alert to a mod.

Charlie, re-post it in the correct forum and put a "disclaimer" in your post that it is also posted here. That way no one hollers double post smile ..... and a moderator there may see it and delete this one?!

You A-OK.... we all had to learn to navigate around.

anyway, yep, install the bellhousing and then the clutch/pressure plate. Turn the engine manually or "bump" with starter. After you get them all "sort of tight" then go back around and tighten them up....the flywheel will probably turn by itself them with the pressure you exert to tighten and then you'll have to "hold" the flywheel with a screwdrive or something unless your engine is mighty tight. Oh, they may a "modern" tool, reminds me of an oil filter wrench, that you can use to turn flywheels..... and don't forget to install the throw out bearing !!!
