I have my grandfathers 51 gmc which was a one owner and has lots of memories as my grandfather and I spend a lot of time in that old truck. It was a 3/4 ton work truck and I am planning on restoring back to when I was a kid. It has a huge checker plate steel rear bumper with a big trailer ball mounted on the steel plate and had fender bliners and I want to make it as original as possible but more interested in taking it back to when I was a kid working on the 40 acres with my grandfather. So I will try to keep it 6v positive ground etc. Will that be a real probllem to keep it 6v positive ground?

I have just retired so I look forward to this project.

Nice project which I'm sure will be very rewarding. This is a good site for information and help.
Some may argue about the 6V vs 12V but I think 6volt is just fine.
Post that question over in the Electrical Forum and you'll find what others think...... do a search and find hours or reading!!

One of the main things with a 6 volt system is to make sure your battery cables are heavy enough. The ones you buy in Walmart won't cut it for a 6 volt system. I believe it's O gauge or heavier that you need. The people in the electrical forum can confirm that.
