I'm finally getting ready to put the grey goose on the road and thought I'd check to see if anyone has a suggestion for an insurance company for classic cars.

I went with the same Co. I have for the rest of My stuff and got it for a vintage truck because I used the same Co. it is real cheap only around 135.00 a year.

Haggerty...Full coverage, 0 deductible, agreed upon amount the truck is worth. Ten grand of coverage costs me 200 a year!
Just can't be your daily driver.

I went with Heacock Classic, a little lower cost with same coverage as others I checked with. Has a mileage limit, has to be kept in locked garage. $135 for $25,000 coverage.

suppose ever one knows that your grey goose is a truck...and then you ask for suggestion for an insurance company for classic cars..??

I have my 52 sedan thru Hag, it is for a fixed amount, keep the car garaged but no limit on miles... it runs about 260 a yr..I also used them when I had my 52 truck...mine has went up about 30 bucks over the past couple of yrs...seems like they all do that...good luck with your choice..

No harm Joker. Since I'm a member of this forum I assumed everyone would know I was a truck person but I also love the classic cars. I do have pictures of her in prime and will be painting the truck a deep metallic grey soon. I probably should post them. Love your 52 sedan.

Agree with Pete52, I used my regular insurance co. They were competetive.

JC Taylor has been my insurer for many years, only one claim and they paid off immediately with no hassle.

Good reminder to everyone, though ... no matter who you insure with, always a good idea to shop around and get quotes every few years. Just because you insure with one company or another for years doesn't mean they are always going to have the lowest rates for you.

Remember ... Insurance companies are in business to make a profit. Period. Taking care of loyal customers makes for a good advertising sound bite but it doesn't wash with the stock holders at the end of the year. Make 'em work for it by shopping around and making them compete for *your* business. Whether it's your modern daily drivers, your antique 1/2-tons or your antique Big Bolts, shop around and get competitive quotes (Your results will probably differ from everyone else's -- just because Company X gives me a good rate, doesn't mean they'll give you the same rate).

The best insurance rates go to those who do their homework and shop around. Know what you need and go "dialing for dollars." In my opinion, Insurance is just legal extortion (and my grandfather was a corporate executive in the Insurance Industry*...), so don't just roll over and be an easy "mark."

The insurance with haggaerty do they give you full coverage or just replacement insurance on the vehicle? As in no liability insurance??

No, liability is covered. And if you have multiple vehicles with them, all are covered for liability at the same price.

I use an insurance called milemeter for a couple of my vehicles that I don't put many miles on or use regularly.
Where I used to pay $86 a month each, I now pay close to the same every 6 months, each.
The program is for 6 months or 1,000 miles but if I exceed my mileage in the 6 month period, I can always add miles.
I have a hunting jeep CJ5 used during season and my wife's Grand Cherokee that she drives a block to work each day. These are both covered with this company. Next I'll add my '59 Apache that won't be a daily driver but will be covered.
I'm all about saving money these days.

JC Taylor on my '46. About $130 a year.

I just got my Haggerty bill the other day. Been with them for about 7 years now. It did go up this year about $20. Still a great deal for me. Did use the towing coverage this year, maybe that's why I got a price increase

I use JC Taylor, you can quote it up at JCTaylor.com, My 48 is insured for 10,000 and it runs $100 per year.

I have my regular insurance co. Allstate. i did not like the restrictions on my driving. no driving to work, no one under 25. i let just about anyone to drive it if they have a drivers license, even one who did not but only in a parking lot. it was done to drive and enjoy and most had to many restrictions. BTW Allstate is a agent for Haggerty. i just hope nothing serious happens and i have to fight with them.

I went with http://www.americancollectors.com/ I've only had them 8 months so far dropped State Farm on my 3 old vehicles .Must be kept inside at building on your residents.Drove to car shows, repairs ,parades ,not a daily driver.There's a lot of car shows in Texas

Has anyone had a claim with American collectors ever or any problems ?
