I am banned from that site, so I can not view the photos, but I would like to see what you are talking about. The only factory holes I am aware of on the light-duty Chevy/GMC trucks are:

1. 4-speed tranny shifter ('60-'66)
2. 4x4 transfer case shifter ('60-'66)
3. tranny e-brake handle (early 60's)

They don't look factory to me, looks like they were made with a big punch and hammer. Somebody suggested access to bell housing bolts but they don't look big enough for that purpose. Besides who would want to disassemble the interior of the truck to change a clutch.

....ask the previous owners!!
Does it appear that it is just a punched hole or can you tell if something was ever Bolted there?

Just had this thought. Floor console prior to the floor shifter going in? You are fixing that mess aren't you?

Tony: Here is a link to the picture: http://inlinethumb62.webshots.com/47741/2199265080103882008S600x600Q85.jpg.

They are for sure factory holes because they are punched from inside the cab and they were under the "factory applied" sound deadener.

Sounds like Mike has the answer: air conditioning drain holes. thumbs_up

I am thinking it was factory.... look at this photo http://inlinethumb55.webshots.com/45302/2702918180103882008S600x600Q85.jpg that's factory applied sound deadener, right? The metal under the sound deadener was pristine, as if the tar type material was sprayed on it shortly after the cab was assembled.

If the holes are under the factory applied sound deadner how can the holes not also be factory applied?

Both of mine had shiny fawn painted metal under the tar paper stuff. Somebody shot some undercoating there in the past 40+ yrs, IMO.

if the a/c was a dealer installation then the dealer would have to had to lift the mats to install the drain lines anyway. the metal would still be pristine and the dealer would have had access to the tar type material as you call it

Those holes are in the same spots on my 64 c-60, there is a plate behind it that bolts go to your holes look like someone made them bigger., but my cover can be unbolted to and yours does not appear to be bolted but spot welded
