For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Mar 2009 Posts: 9 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Mar 2009 Posts: 9 | Has anyone found a cooling fan shroud that works well with the origional 6 blade fan and stock radiator?
I found some universal ones on line. Some were for later crossflow radiators. I would like to have a full circle shroud but could make due with a partial shroud.
Was there any model that worked better than the others? I am tempted to buy two cheap kits and modfy them.
Thanks for any advice. Craig W.

I like giving advice. That way I don't have to fix it.

Depending on your situation I'd consider getting me some sheet metal, as wide as you need, and make your own since you have to make brackets anyway. I've see them where the sheet metal was simpy overlapped at the bottom and pop riveted...the brackets fabbed out of 3/4 inch wide strip of metal from Ace or Lowes, or a 3/4" strip of aluminum from the same places. You would/will be surprisd how nice it will look if you take your time.
That said I know some of the earlier BIG trucks has a fan shroud on them but not sure if they will fit your application? I think I even saw one advertized for the big truck somwhere.
Hope this helps in someway. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2009 Posts: 9 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Mar 2009 Posts: 9 | Thanks for advice. I am going to the junkyard and see if a plastic shroud off of some other vehicle could be modifed.
The boiled and repaired radiator went back in without a hitch. The new water pump fits. I even painted it red to flash up the engine:-). A new thermostat, upper and lower rad hoses, and a few other odds and ends and its finished. Now to try rebuilding the windows/doors. They need it all.
Thanks to Jim Carter Truck Parts.
