What is a fair price to pay for a 1954 truck 235 engine ? The engine is complete, may be stuck.I was walking a salvage yard Saturday and came across it,in the truck.

Thanks,Tim

If it is stuck and has no guarantee, at most $50 to $100 (or maybe $200 if it comes with clutch housing, generator, and starter).

Just a guess (and, I am cheap and careful).

Yep. I picked up a spare for $200, with clutch, bellhousing, starter, no generator but engine runs strong. All bets are off if its stuck.

The price I usually look for is "If you'll haul it away, you can have it!" I've collected several that way.

nephew just sold a 1962 235 with everything, starter, generator, bellhousing clutch assembly and included a 4 speed tranny for $150. It was stuck but hadn't been until some nit wit took the carb off (stoled it) and didn't put anything over the hole.

I can't seem to ever find deals like that either. I usually find the guys that think they have a gold mine in an old car or truck. Maybe I'm just not that good of a negotiator.

I picked up a '55 that was running for $250. I would wait and find a working one ready to drop...but then I am not too familiar with working on engines and my free time is limited.
