I've ben working in a scrap yard for 2 plus years had my eye on a truck in the back after 2 plus years I had the boss's kid to sell it to me. Got it home on a wrecker and ran the serial number FC 283 381 ran these numbers and came up with correct me if I am wrong it will not be the first time that I was wrong F=1947
C=conventional 28=280 series=1.25 Ton.
3= 137" wheel base and 381 is number is off the assembly line? Any Help on this will be GREATLY Apprciated. T MIX
P.S- Could not find any numbers on frame rail there was only a metal tag on the dash rivetted on.

what size is the engine? let of the dist on the pad has info stamped into it.

from the surface your info on the serial # is correct

The picture comes up. It looks like like a cut down military truck to me, but its out of the range of things where I feel confident in my knowledge.

I think the name on the door says it all. Something a salvage yard cobbled together.

I'd say a yard dog built by a bored salvage yard crew, parts of a number of different things, parts of it may be military or jeep, but could as well be semi truck, has a bit of a Peterbilt look

Looks like a military front with a firetruck rear, but the 1 1/4 ton rating is not your typical duece and a half. If that is the original VIN. Looks like fun to me though! What type of front axle? Military axles would be obvious as well as it would be 4 wheel drive.

Betting the axles came from a dodge or ford, otherwise looks like a home made collection of parts

That is one of a kind. A big old diesel with a million pounds of torque would finish it.

Looks like a commercial aircraft tow tug to me.

The first thing that came to my mind was airport tug too. I wonder now if they didn't just put a data tag that had a title on something that came with a bill of sale only. The more I look at it, the less I see that might have come from a GMC.

it's a tug. saw one very like it in a junkyard in england back in the 70's. lots of civilian type vehicles were made to suit military uses.

I think the frame & running gear 1950 GMC 1.25 ton duelwheels 8.25 by 20 all the way around 19 springs on one side in back 9 springs in front stiff?

sorry about the screw up on the pics just learning how to do them . Like I said before it a ton 1/4 here are some more pics sorry about the riding lawn mower pics still don't know what I am doing as you can see there in the pic the rear end has 19 springs YES i know there is a bunch broke and the front has 9.You can see someone did alot of work diamond plated the whole thing 1/8 the hood I took off is a 2 piece lifts on both sides.
