My fiance and I just bought a 1957 Chev 3600. This will be my second restoration as I have already completed a 1971 Trans Am. Our truck is originally from Colorado and is in overall decent condition. We bought it partially disasembled so we have our work cut out for us. Can't wait to get started, but will need much info as I don't know much about these trucks. | | | | Joined: Mar 2008 Posts: 3,750 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2008 Posts: 3,750 | Hi and welcome from Scotland. You've come to the right place, plenty of good info here, just ask in the relevant sections. What are your plans? Stock or modified? As always... we want pics! Good luck. 1950 Chevy Advance Design 3100 in ScotlandIn the Stovebolt GalleryMore pix on Flickr. I've definately got this truck thing in my blood ... my DNA sequence has torque settings"Of all the small nations of this earth, perhaps only the ancient Greeks surpass the Scots in their contribution to mankind" Winston Churchill.

I like to be the one to take apart so I remember where the parts all go. You'll have fun learning. Great job for the both of you. | | | | Joined: Feb 2000 Posts: 38 Wrench Fetcher | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Feb 2000 Posts: 38 | You came to the right place. Tried to get on the site yesterday only to find my post missing and I couldn't log in! I guess the server crashed. I will get some pics posted as soon as I get a chance to figure out how to do it. First questions. How do I go about figuring out what the original color and interior trim and color were? The tag is on the door jamb but where it says "color" and "trim" there is nothing there?? | | | | Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 14,522 Moderator: Welcome Centre, Southern Bolters, Legion Hall | Moderator: Welcome Centre, Southern Bolters, Legion Hall Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 14,522 | Welcome to the Stovebolt. Of course Christmas snuck in there too. Now that all of that is out of the way, back to working on the truck! I will get some more pictures posted soon. Question: Is there a more appropriate section to post progress as we work on this truck? I want to keep a restoration thread going. | | | | Joined: Jul 2010 Posts: 68 Smokey 56 | Smokey 56 Joined: Jul 2010 Posts: 68 | | | | | Joined: Sep 2010 Posts: 21 New Guy | New Guy Joined: Sep 2010 Posts: 21 | Ok, thanks. I will start one there. | | | | Joined: Sep 2010 Posts: 695 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Sep 2010 Posts: 695 | Welcome to the bolt! It's great that your wife shares your passion for restoration. Congratulations to you two by the way! Would like to see a pic of your '71 Trans Am as well. I used to own a '72 Firebird. They were unique lookin' critters weren't they? I remember a CHIPS show (If you remember that) where Ponch drove a beautiful gold Trans-Am... either '71 or '72 in one of the episodes... ok, daydreamin' over... back to work I go! Good luck with your project!
