Both sides? It's been a long time since I've worked on the truck. Radiator's been recored and I've got a rebuilt pump with new hoses. Thanks, Jacques

I don't know why it works but I've never had any leaks. | | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,270 Bubba - Curmudgeon | | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,270 | I do not use the stuff used "in the day". I now use the blue, non-hardening "goop" available in most parts stores (Hylomar Universal Blue).

It holds the gasket and seals slight imperfections. Some don't like it because they say its hard to scrap off the engine but hey, how many water pumps do we change on the same vehicle in a lifetime? It's a dark brown, almost black brush-on liquid that was developed to seal gaskets exposed to 115/145 octane aviation gasoline. It's much more effective than the standard brush-on stuff, Permatex 3D. It's a little hard to find, but I've been very pleased with it, particularly when I'm installing steel-shim cylinder head gaskets on high-compression race engines. The .023" steel gasket seals compression very well, but it has problems with coolant seeps sometimes. The Permatex dries it right up! Jerry
