Hello everyone! I am new to the site. This site seems to have the best info for our hobby truck and I do have a couple questions.

Hi I am doing more research on "Buddy" our 57 Chevy 3604 truck and I found some numbers on the third member. Can anyone help decode them? Also there is a nob next to these numbers? I don't know what it is for?

stamped number into the forge - #3699535 - below that #362 and also there seems to be a #1 on the opposite end of the plate?

This rear also has 14 leaf springs on each side - 6 smaller ones on top and 8 below it.

Is this a Ho52 or Ho72? 1 ton or 3/4 ton rear? I believe this is the original rear. If it is a 1 Ton someone must have ordered it this way?

I just replaced the rear seal and purchased one from Napa here in the Twin Cities and I believed it was a Ho52 and the gasket worked great! Do the Ho52and Ho72 use the same gasket?

Welcome to the Stovebolt Dan. You have found the right place with lots of info and good folks.

Since this is the Welcome Center and not everyone visits here I'd recommend you post your questions in the related forum. For instance the question above would go nice in the Engine/Driveline forum. You will most likely get your answers there.
Sorry I cannot help but I'm sure someone else around the garage will be of assistance.

I might also add that if you do not have a shop manual, or assembly manual yet that there is a shop manual on line thanks to another bolter. Check it out along the way.

Hi Dan, welcome. It's always a good idea to figure out exactly what you have before you get too far in restoring it. If your rear diff is original it should be a 4.57 ratio, but as Alvin mentioned, ask the experts in the driveline forum.
