The carb has been rebuilt twice and er still can't get the engine to run right. There is also a Carter YF model carb, is there any advantage, the W1 one over the YF, id so what? I'm thinking of going to a rebuilt YF carb, what is your thoughts and recommendations. Thanks.

(My opinion, others may differ) Variants of the YF were among the last carburetors to be used in the USA when fuel injection finally replaced the carburetor due to emission issues. The YF production run: 1950 to about 1990!!! Pretty impressive.
Unfortunately, the YF uses a neopreme diaphragm accelerator pump. With deathanol, the diaphragm does not hold up so well as in gasoline. For "daily drivers" expect to replace the diaphragm every 2~4 years. For "hobby" use, the failure will be more often.
The W-1, while slightly below the technology level of the YF, is much more friendly to the use of fuels other than gasoline. The leather accelerator pump is impervious to deathanol. Once properly rebuilt, the W-1 is virtually bullet-proof, assuming the owner changes fuel and air filtering at recommended intervals.

Are all the YF's the same? Any certain year better than other for say.... running of a later model 235? And where can you buy one in good condition without spending an arm and a leg?

Do you know where I can get a rebuilt Carter YF or W1. I need to get this truck on the road and the carburetor has help us up. Problem is that we have rebuilt it three times and it works for a bit then begins to foul up. I have ordered an in line fuel filter, but I need a dependable carburetor. Please advise. Thanks.
