I didn't notice anything wrong with it to begin with but how do you tell if there needs to be a rebuild or repair? Would you see fragments of metal once you open the shift cover? Is there something I should be checking before I put it back? I just want to make sure I take care of any problems before putting it back together.

It looks pretty good from the quick inspection without really good light. I will give it a better look this week.
