Rebuild it yourself Jim. Taint all that much to it and you know you'll take better care of the paint job than some guy in Hoboken.
Here a few pics of the process in this Steering album, might give you some ideas. http://www.pbase.com/dennygraham/steering&page=1

Pretty basic mechanics to do it yourself. Don't take the ball nut apart though.

They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. Same thing.

I have to agree with Denny. I rebuilt the upper and lower boxes, I even took the ball nut apart to check the races, and bearings. I was fortunate as everything was only slightly worn. I repacked everything, and now the old girl shifts as smooth as can be.

I had no problem rebuilding mine including the nut. Actually all it neaded was a good cleaning and a new output shaft seal.

Once again, taint all that much to them, even the ball nut.

You really can't do it wrong, there is no timing involved or strange operations. If you put all the pieces back in that came out, it will work. Adustment are pretty easy once you understand what they do.

It is possible to assemble the ball nut/sector shaft one tooth out of position either way and more than once someone has asked on here what they did wrong.

I agree. Do it yourself. Just be careful to not loose any of the balls in the sleeves. Count them when you take the two sleeves apart. That is most important.
