Hy rick tool, the torsion bar suspension was standard for only three years [1960 - 62] so parts for this forty year old system are rare, and therefore pricy. You could try contacting "Rare Parts" at least I think that is there name, they specialize in rare steering and suspension components. Just be thankful that you're looking for the light truck components, the stuff for the larger trucks is made of unobtaineum. Good luck in your search, and if you do find a source of quality parts please let us know.

I feel your pain!, I'm in the process of putting on new spindles and looking at replacing the lower ball joints, EXPENSIVE, plus a real pain to remove. Rare parts sells them #10111, my price (I work at a auto parts store) is about $130 ea.

May I ask, how did they determine that they needed replaced? Mine spin pretty easily, but there's no real slack in them.

Rick,

www.classicparts.com has them for $120 each. Still not inexpensive but better than $200.

You need to support the control arm and let the tire hang, then pry up on the tire to check ball joints. Pull on the top joints to check for side to side movement.

Good to know, IF I EVER GET MY SPINDLE ON, I'll give that a try and see how they are.
