The 207 c.i. in my 1934 Master keeps stalling after it warms up after I've been driving for about five to ten minutes. I've trimmed out the carburetor (set the low speed jet and throttle control). The car will idle fine but once I get it into gear, it stalls out. Could it be the distributor vacuum advance? | | | | | Joined: Aug 2005 Posts: 6,377 Ex Hall Monitor | | Ex Hall Monitor Joined: Aug 2005 Posts: 6,377 | Does it act like it's running out of gas? If so it could be a weak fuel pump (vapor lock). The engine heat vaporizes the fuel and the pump is too weak to overcome it. Just one possibility.

As for the timing, my Dad and I set the timing using a light about six months ago... I'll check it also. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 9,115 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 9,115 | A bad coil can start to fail when it gets warm. I thought I would give you something more to worry about! | | | | | Joined: Jan 2007 Posts: 446 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jan 2007 Posts: 446 | I had the same problem. I had a hard time tracing down the problem so I started to replace or rebuild just about everything bolted to the engine. It ended up being the distributor. I didn't rebuild it I replaced it instead. I never came to a conclusion as to why a distributor would do that. | | | | | Joined: Oct 2009 Posts: 25 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Oct 2009 Posts: 25 | The coil is new. The distributor is relatively new. We kinda did what Iron Clad did and began replacing parts. I'm thinking it was a vapor lock. I replaced the old fuel pump and the car seems to get past 10 minutes. never know, though. It could still be a distributor on the edge. Working on the '34 is still a blast, though, even with the gremlins. | | |
