Can anyone give me an estimate of how much it could cost to have a radio rebuilt? Besides the speedometer(broken cable) in the '67 it is the only thing that doesn't work. I know it wouldn't be cheap but neither are newer replacements. If it is warm this weekend I will take it out of the dash and see if it will actually work, it's been out of the truck before or is not original because the wires are spliced.

one of our members does this kind of work. His member name here is justin rubsam. You could send him a PM and see what he says.

Thanks Truckernix. I'll send him a p.m. BILL(does work for Jim Carter's) has p.m.'d me too. Just to up date the situation, the radio does not have any output.

I'm pretty sure a 67 was just an AM set. I don't remember for sure but it seems like they were. The early vintage AM and FM sets can get pretty pricey. Ask around someone might have one sitting around that got replaced by one with an 8 track. One that will fit shows up at the Salvation Army store around here now and then. I have seen them go for $5. I missed something what happened to the 54?

If you are wondering what went on with the radio in the '54----I haven't fixed the '54's radio yet because as you may know it is a long way away from needing a radio. Thanks.

jordan, I think he is asking WHERE is the 54. Some folks reading your post may think you got rid of the 54 in favor of the later model......

I'd rather walk and carry a Chevy hub cap than ride in a Ferd.

Sorry, I should have made it clear. I did think you had replaced the 54' with the newer truck.

NO! No way am I ever getting rid of the '54. You don't have to worry about that. I intend to keep that one even if I have to get rid of everything else. smile
