The Stovebolt Site Forums The Parking Lot '60-'66 Trucks SHOCKS FOR A STOCK HEIGHT 62?????

I'm looking for shocks for my stock height '62 1/2 ton stepside. I know LMC, EICKLERS, etc. show some (KYB Shock) but they show a number that's not the correct KYB number. I know because I work at a Automotive warehouse that sells KYB,Monroe, etc. All there catalogs only go back to 1963 and show completely different numbers...even called KYB and they were no help.Can anybody tell me if the shocks are the same for 60-66 pickups? JUST TRYING TO SAVE FEW BUCKS HERE IF POSSIBLE; IF WE HAVE THEM IN STOCK :-)

It's been over 10 years ago since I swapped a 75 front suspension in my 1960, so I can't swear to it - but I believe the shock dimensions are the same from 1960-1983??, but the 60-62 uses a metal inner sleeve to reduce the rubber bushing diameter from the size of the later mounting stud, to the smaller size of the attaching bolt used in the earlier setup.

In my application, I originally used the 1960 shocks (they were relatively new) with the new suspension swap. When it came time to replace them, I just pushed the sleeve out of the 1960 shock and pressed it into new shocks designed for the 1975. If I remember correctly it's only on the upper mount. In looking back at photographs it appears the lower shock was already mounted on a stud.

I can only come up with numbers for the front, 37187 in Monroe.

I've got a 62 1/2 ton 2wd short stepside.its got new shocks on it from checkers, put on 15 yrs ago, never driven. Not gunna use the frame anymore. What can I do to help ?

Fyi: I'm putting it on a 92 light duty 3/4 4x4 so only thing I'm keeping off original truck is cab & nose

I took a front and back shock to the parts store and compared them with the shelf shocks. I compared the extended and collapsed lengths, as well as the mounts. they are pretty common sizes.
