In the past I've used inline electric fuel pumps as backups while on the road however, this truck is a 6 volt system. Any ideas?
I'll be taking along spare parts, rotor, coil, water pump, 6v generator and relay (if I can find these). I'll bet blinkers will need to be installed to make this truck road legal.....

Make sure that you brush up on your hand signals, though.  I'd definitely take extra parts... At least a fuel pump and the generator/regulator pair won't hurt! You may want to find another carb to bring -- or at least a rebuild kit for the one that's on there. Plugs, wires, cap, rotor, points, and condenser, too. If she sports a fuel filter, bring one of those along for the ride also. | | |

The fuel pump failed up by the drowning river, and believe me, there wasn't a International Harvester dealer within 200 miles.
We tried using the windshield washer tank and pump first, but results were wildly unpredictable. | | |

1. points,condenser
2. plugs
3. a long ignition cable (a set if you are worried)
4. fuel pump
5. a fuel filter or 2 bowl gaskets.
6. 2 gallons of water.
7. can of fix a flat.
8. a length of wire (6 ft.)
9. tube of silicone (please use black) there is a standing joke about people that use red silicone.
10. hand cleaner, rags.
11. a small floor jack, jack stands
12. coveralls
13. tool kit.
Now you are ready!
Or just carry a cel phone with a list of numbers to call along the way, and an ice chest full of you fav. beverage while waiting for the help to arrive.

Let me know when you plan to do this, I may be able to offer a helping hand once you get it closer to home.

i just saw a 44 1 ton (red) going down the road @ 70-80
obviously different running gear. my brother and i had way back in 69-78 two 41 dodges stock and a 47 1 ton mustache grill stude truck.
the best of the dodges went into one w/ a spitfire flathead motor.

I drove 8,000 miles in 28 days in my mostly stock 52 1 ton truck.
A trip around the country and a set of points and a generator bearing was about all I needed. I had a spare ignition system less distributor and a spare fuel pump and some fan belts under the seat just in case though.
