Cheaper normally, don't have to worry about breakage & you shop locally..Joe | | | | | Joined: Nov 2001 Posts: 1,519 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2001 Posts: 1,519 | Just as Joe said,,,any glass shop should be able to cut that for you. Its all flat glass. Then you'll have the fun of replacing the weatherstrip also. If you need patterns for glass pieces, I think Jim Carter Truck Parts sells them. | | | | | Joined: Dec 2008 Posts: 28 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Dec 2008 Posts: 28 | Thanks for the good advice! | | | | | Joined: Oct 2005 Posts: 408 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Oct 2005 Posts: 408 | I had glass cut for my 51 from a local shop 250.00 and it turned out great. i just took them my original glass and they cut it. I guess I was luckily. I got my tinted side windows and vent glasses cut for 150... then the guy says "aw, just give me a 100" | | | | | Joined: Feb 2006 Posts: 428 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Feb 2006 Posts: 428 | I am with the rest of the guys. Go to a local glass shop. Ask for laminate glass, it is the same thickness as original. Chat up the people in the shop, maybe even take your truck down to order the glass. Ask for the setting tape and they will probably give it to you. I paid 30 bucks for each side of the windshield, ten bucks per wing, and 26 for the door glass. You can get it tented in various colors and darkness for and additional cost. | | | | | Joined: Jan 2007 Posts: 117 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jan 2007 Posts: 117 | Wibas , call me ill tell you where in wisc

If you have the original glasses it's the best possible templates you can get. Some of the aftermarket stuff leaves a little to be desired..... Any good glass shop will be able to do this. 1950 Chevy Advance Design 3100 in ScotlandIn the Stovebolt GalleryMore pix on Flickr. I do this very same thing for my living ... custom and original glass, this is our family business since 1975. You can check out my site to contact me at the shop aglassenterprise.com toll free in the U.S. at 1-800-223-1141 we have original patterns for all every make and model vehicle made ( very rare if we do not). So you all know, there is a difference in the laminated glass. All laminated windshield is required to be .030 lamination, side windows, vents, back glass can be .015 lamination ( half as thick ). Know what you are getting for your money, I will try to get more information on the stovebolt for interior, insulation ,glass, channeling, clips, gaskets, etc.etc. that we provide at my shop. I can send pics and references for all work, hope to be more help here for the bolters. thanks, restoman57 | | | | | Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 4,983 Master Gabster | | Master Gabster Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 4,983 | You guys are so organized to have saved that glass through your rebuild. However mine is long gone some 4 years ago. Therefore I'll be making that glass purchase and it won't be locally. My plan is to order the glass and take it and the truck to the glass shop and let them install it. I'll need exhaust pipes and I plan on taking the truck to the muffler shop for that as well. I've spent 4 years on this project and I'm ready to drive.

Most glass shops won't install someone elses glass. | | | | | Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 4,983 Master Gabster | | Master Gabster Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 4,983 | I guess I better find one that will before I order glass.

I am a volunteer with the Boy Scouts and we have a Jamboree every 4 years. This year will be the 100th anniversary of the US Scouts and probably one of the biggest Jamborees ever. You should come by and visit if you get the chance, I manage a staff dining hall and would be honored to buy you a hot meal.
