During the conversion from a 235 to a 283 I have discovered that I have no throttle linkage. I bought the truck in pieces a nd have a couple of linkages that I believe where the rigt ones for the 235. I have tried them every way possible and believe that there are parts missing. I don't think they would work anyway. Can I get a linkage out of a later model and if so what years. The motor is a 1965 and the truck is a 1958. I have tried a couple speed shops and they look at me like I'm crazy. I know others have done this. What can I do or where can I get one?

there's a V8 linkage available from the repro suppliers for the TF trucks - exactly like OEM that's pictured in the assembly manual - don't remember which place I got mine [Carter?] but it works perfect on any small block

Bill, I am not familiar with the term TF trucks? Also is Carter a supplier of parts as I have not heard of them and am eager to get a replacement.

I've made a mid 70's accelerator pedal and cable set-up work on my V-8 equipped 48 1 1/2 ton truck. Fairly simple way to go,

Another very cheap alternative to get a cable linkage is to go the wrecking yards and look at just about any of the 60-80's Datsun/Nissan pickups. The throttle pedal is held to the firewall with one or two bolts, and the cable attaches to the firewall right above it, and the other ned of the cable bracket is on the carb mounting bolt, and will require some slight modification to attach to the V-8, but should work pretty well, and will look clean for a very inexpensive cast.

Kurt - "TF" is what ya got - 55 2nd to 59 is the "Task Force era" [Chevys sales hype] - the 'apache' part started in 58 and applied to any light truck [31,32,36,38 series] whereas the 'mid size' 40 and 60 series were called Vikings, and the heavy weights [21,000 gvw +] were called Spartans

I have guys ask sometimes "that's an apache, isn't it?" when I'm drivin the 57, as if that makes it deelux, or not a chevy "I say no, it's a pickup truck!"
