Hello Everyone
I try to identify the year and size of my Canadian c15 truck engine.
The engine looks about the same as the usual stovebolt ones
I searched already By the Tech Tips, the Onliners and the Forums but got no results so far.
The Nr.on the pad behind the distributor is: XR 3696705.
I should appreciate any information.

Has this truck been underwater? Normally I don't see that much scale in an engine.

We always make boat anchor jokes about engines but I think that one has already been there done that.

Do you have an idea of the year of the truck? The tall side cover would indicate it's either a 216 or an early 235. They're both splash-oiler Babbit-rod engines, and that one looks too far gone to restore. The 216's date back to 1937 or so, through 1952 or 53, and the 235 started out in 1941, I believe, and also went to 52 or 53 before it got upgraded to full-pressure oiling and a different cylinder head/short side cover. According to a couple of websites I've found, it's supposed to have a 216 engine:

The truck was left outside for some 35 years with no engine cover and the roof hatch open.

For 99% it should be used as an anchor.The main idea is finding out the age and size of the engine.

You are right about the size of the engine the c15 was using,it was a 216.
So far I also know that this truck should be made between late 42 to mid 44 only try to get a more accurate date.
I am familiar with the later 216 engines but never seen this shape before

Notice that the sheet-metal side cover goes all the way up the side of the engine to the valve cover. All the 216's I'm aware of with the possible exception of the 1953 model engines had the tall side cover. 235 splash-oil engines from 1941 to 52 had the same configuration. Later model engines had a side cover that did not extend over the side of the cylinder head.
