Ive been looking at some other pics and this truck doesn't look like a 53 to me. | | | | | Joined: Feb 2009 Posts: 400 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Feb 2009 Posts: 400 | It looks like my '53 2 ton, mine is a 6100 with the 137 wheel base.I looked at the pics. and I don't think they came with a 5 speed trans. but they did come with two speed rearends. | | | | | Joined: Jul 2009 Posts: 21 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Jul 2009 Posts: 21 | I don't think the guy selling this knows all the information on it so i'm trying to get some more pics from him. Check the type door handles, wing windows(I do not see them and 53's had them), rear axle and a vin will help narrow it down to exactly what size and year.

Bolted on -- 2-ton/6400. Screw on -- 1.5-ton/4400
Also, the 2-speed rear would be a good indicator of being a 2-ton.

I agree with John and Bill. Pre '50 so I'm placing my guess at 49, and I'll bet on 2 ton.
While we're on this topic, anybody ever find a consistency among front bumpers to identify 1.5 or 2 ton trucks? It seems that in regard to the 41-47e trucks, the chrome pick-up type bumper usually is found on 1.5 ton models, and the larger commercial bumper usually indicates 2 ton models. I haven't seen enough trucks to decide if this is true in all cases.
